When you want to quickly edit a text file or write a fast note, you can either use Notepad or Wordpad. The problem with these two Windows text editors is that both of them are really limited in features and offer only basic text editing. Most users, even beginners, may need more features and options than these two text editors can offer, but don't need the complexity of Microsoft Word.

For all these users, there is TotalEdit Pro. This Windows software provides a very good balance between functionality and ease of use, offering just the features that most users need. After installing and running the program, the user will be presented with a complex interface, having a directory tree on the left. The directory tree allows the user to quickly find a desired text file and resembles the interface of Windows Explorer.

When selecting a text file, the user will be able to modify it, by taking advantage of the many text formatting tools included in the application. The user can also take advantage of the line numbering option, which is especially useful when writing source code for various programming languages, thus allowing the user to find a specific function or error.

From the bottom of the interface, the user can add various controls to the text project, like radio buttons, check boxes and other similar items. These elements are visible when saving the file as a HTML webpage. From the top menu, one can connect to any SSH or telnet server and can even link a database with the application. Furthermore, TotalEdit Pro supports a large number of file formats, when saving and also when opening existing files.

Pros

It allows you to write any kind of text, including source code. What's more, it includes line numbering. Furthermore, you can add various HTML elements, like check boxes or radio buttons, using the bottom graphical toolbar. Moreover, it supports a large number of file formats.

Cons

The interface may seem a bit difficult to use at first. Using TotalEdit Pro you can write any kind of text with ease and maximum efficiency, including source code for various programming languages.
